Al Alvir

Meet THE HEAD COACH/OWNER

Coach Alvir dedicated his life to boxing and has worked in high-need communities servicing families in Drug rehabilitation as a caseworker and as a child protective specialist for ACS. He also worked as an NYC DOE Substitute teacher. Coach Alvir has a long history working with children and young adults with the full spectrum of neurobiological disorders, as well as behavioral disorders and mental disorders. As a boxing trainer, he has developed countless champions from the Golden Gloves to National champions as well as professional fighters. Coach Alvir was a recipient of the George Washington Coach of the year award. He was also chosen as a coach for the New York Metropolitan team at the 2016 US Olympic Trials. Having traveled the world with his fighters, his stable continues to be recognized and ranked as being among the best in the nation.

Anthony Carollo

Meet THE COACH/OWNER

Anthony Carollo was a boxing aficionado since the age of 10. He lived in Starrett City and would watch the training at the Starrett City Boxing Club all the time. At 20, he joined the NYPD and focused on weight training which later led him to train in Muay Thai. Coach Anthony trained under renowned instructors for over 12 years. As an NYPD officer, he worked in specialized units, including truancy, robbery, anti-crime and Vice enforcement. Years later, he traded his badge to build a successful real estate company that continues thriving for over 25 years. Carollo and Alvir met through real estate and boxing. They shared a drive for business and combat sports. Carollo’s kids grew up training under EQBC, and their friendship grew into creating EQBC Arena.
